Introduction.
Peacock is a big bird. It is the national bird of India. The unique feature that makes it different form other birds is its different color combination on mesmerizing and beautiful wings. On its long wings moon like spots and eye shape in middle touches eyes of the viewers.
When Peacock dances those spots shine in sunlight. On its head there is a small crest/crown, it means Peacock is the king of birds. Peacock can not fly because of his heavy wings.
The female of Peacock is called peahen. Peahen is not that much attractive and beautiful in comparison to its male. There is no crest on the head of peahen. The male Peacock has the strikingly beautiful appearance.
Peacock loves rain, in rainy season Peacock dances merrily. They are mostly found in fields and gardens.
Biologically they are omnivores because they eat small animals and vegetation. Peacocks love to eat snakes, insects and grains.
They are called friends of farmers because in fields they eat insects which harm crops and kill snakes which can bite farmers.
It is observed that this bird can live in all types of weather conditions, it can adopt to live in dry, humid and cold climates. They are generally found near water bodies. Where there is a source of water near by they prefer to live there.
Naturally Peacocks live in groups and avoid being alone. They sleep on the branches of the tress. They are very timid and fearful and are very shy in nature.
They possess strong legs, they can run fast. It is not easy to catch Peacock.
During rainy season when there is cloudy one can hear its high pitched and shrill voice. Sometimes they produce sounds in order to alert other birds when they see any danger.
It is found excessively in all east Asian countries like India, Nepal etc. They are the part of Indian culture and are found more India that’s why Peacock is national bird of India. History bears witness that in India a Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan who had built Taj Mahal in India had built his throne in the shape of Peacock, it was called a Peacock throne.
There are many types of Peacocks, some are called Indian Peacocks and some are called Burmese Peacocks. Indian Peacocks have tuft of hair on its crest while the crest of Burmese Peacocks is pointed.

This beautiful creature of God is hunted and killed. The colorful feathers of Peacock are in great demand for decorative purposes. Some poachers kill them for meat.
If this bird will be killed and hunted, the specie of this bird will become rare. This bird is the pride of India. The beauty of our environment is with these beautiful birds.
